Fire Crews Battle House Fire on Quincy St.

Monday night at 8:15 Fire Fighters attacked a house fire in the 1800 block of Quincy Street in East Bakersfield. Crews from the Kern County Fire Department and Bakersfield City Fire Department were faced with flames and smoke in the rear of the structure. The fire caused about $20,000 of damage to the vacant house. The cause of the blaze has not been determined. There were no reported injuries.



News Release:

Monday, August 18th 2008 at approximately 8:15 P.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for a house fire in the 1800 block of Quincy Street in East Bakersfield. Approximately 10 Kern County Firefighters and 4 Bakersfield City Firefighters responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, crews were faced with a fire in the rear of the structure.
An engine crew made an attack on the fire while the second engine
established a water supply; simultaneously the truck crew went to the roof and performed ventilation on the structure to allow the heat and
fire gases to escape. Firefighters were able to save approximately
$80,000 of property value. However, the fire destroyed approximately
$20,000 of property.

The property was vacant at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
